WILLS - POWERS OF ATTORNEY - LIVING WILLS

Wills provide for the ultimate disposition of your estate upon your death. Without a Will, the State will make those decisions. In addition, it allows you to name a guardian of the person and estate of your minor children.

Every adult, especially the parents of minor children, should have at least a basic Will. In addition, every adult should consider the consequences of his or her own disability or incapacity. The following legal documents provide for such circumstances by appointing agents to make critical health care and financial decisions:

A DURABLE POWER OF ATTORNEY FOR HEALTH CARE
gives a responsible adult of your choice the power to make decisions regarding your health care if and when you are unable to make those decisions on your own.

A DURABLE POWER OF ATTORNEY FOR PROPERTY
gives a responsible adult of your choice the power to make decisions regarding your property, both real and personal, if and when you are unable to do so.

 A LIVING WILL
expresses your desire to your family and medical care givers that you do not want to be kept alive by artificial means if you are in a coma and your doctor agrees that it is an irreversible situation.
